Welcome to Crook County Vector Control District
Protecting Health, One Vector at a Time
At Crook County Vector Control District, our mission is to safeguard the health and well-being of our community by managing vectors—in particular, mosquitos, which can transmit disease or cause discomfort. Our goal is to promote a healthier environment.
What Are Vectors?
Vectors are organisms capable of harboring or transmitting diseases such as West Nile Virus, malaria, and Zika to humans. Some vectors, like mosquitoes, may also cause discomfort or injury without directly spreading disease. Managing these vectors is critical to protecting our community’s health and quality of life.
How We Work
We use an Integrated Vector Management (IVM) approach that combines science-based strategies to control and prevent vector populations:
- Surveillance: Monitoring vector activity to identify potential risks.
- Source Control: Addressing breeding sites to reduce vector populations.
- Public Education: Equipping our community with the tools and knowledge to make a difference at home.
Our goal is a proactive, community-focused effort to limit vectors and their impact, reducing the risk of outbreaks and ensuring Crook County remains a safe, vibrant place to live.
